WORK RECOVERY INC. OFFERS SYNOPSIS OF REMARKS AT CRUTTENDEN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA GROWTH STOCK CONFERENCE

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is a summary of a presentation made by Tucson, Ariz.-based Work Recovery Inc. (NASDAQ: WORK) today at the Cruttenden Southern California Growth Stock Conference.
Thomas L. Brandon, president of Work Recovery Inc. stated that the $60 billion annual expenditure in workers' compensation in the United States has reached a crisis level and is expected to worsen by over 20 percent per year through the 1990s. In President Clinton's address to Congress, he placed a high priority on health care reform. The cost of workers' compensation and the drain on the national economy will target this crisis for extreme scrutiny in the years to come. Work Recovery Inc.'s unique position of being able to impact these costs through the objective evaluation of industrially injured workers on the ERGOS(TM) Work Simulator and to provide a national network of standardized clinics will provide the foundation for WRI's continued growth and profitability. It is imperative that we objectively and fairly identify workers who are capable of returning to work and remove them from the workers' compensation roles. WRI's ERGOS(TM) Work Simulator uniquely identifies workers who are symptom magnifiers/malingerers and who must be litigated out of the system. Concurrently, the ERGOS(TM) Work Simulator helps to focus workers with true disability on the necessary steps that must be taken to return to work. Work Recovery Inc.'s primary referral sources -- the employer, the insurance carrier, the treating physician and, when necessary, the attorneys -- now understand the importance of objective, non-biased, defendable evaluation information on a worker's ability to return to work. WRI's 29 industrial clinics, which focus entirely on the assessment of a worker and the work therapy needed to return the worker to full employment, can give employers the assurance that they will receive high-quality services for their workers that can expedite the worker's return to work. WRI's proprietary technology, software, and national network of clinics also have positioned the company to meet the federal requirements placed on employers under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The act requires that all pre-employment testing be functionally based, testing only the essential functions of the job. This law effectively eliminates the use of medical examinations such as X-rays, etc., for screening workers. WRI's rapid growth in sales and profits, with projected sales of $18 million for FY 1993, as compared to $6.5 million in FY 1992, can be expected to continue far into the year 2000. WRI's emerging role with major employers -- i.e., Toyota, Ford, General Motors, Johnson Controls, etc. -- can be expected to demonstrate its ability to save employers millions of dollars each year in their workers' compensation and pre-employment programs.
