Chicago-based DeVry Inc. is building its facility on a 20-acre site, near the intersection of Roscoe Boulevard and Fallbrook Avenue, that for years was home to Hughes Aircraft Hughes Aircraft Company was a major aerospace and defense company founded by Howard Hughes. This will be DeVry's 17th campus in the nation. Company officials initially hoped the campus would be open to students in 1998, but getting the necessary permits and other approval from the city of Los Angeles

DeVry offers bachelor's degree programs in computer information systems, business administration, electronics engineering and other technical disciplines. Kajima Construction Services of Los Angeles is building the institute, with completion scheduled by autumn. As many as 100 people a day could be working at the site on the $10 million project.
