Case study

WordCom's strengths--outstanding creative, data processing and personal service--led a Maryland bank to choose the company for a critical marketing program.

The bank's goal: acquire new equity loans from their customer base without wasting money. They had approached so-called "direct mail companies," finding only letter-shops that had little experience with profiling, list development and creative execution. Enter WordCom.

First, the bank's entire customer file was enhanced with demographic criteria. It was then householded, compared to existing equity customers and "scored" based on propensity to buy, using modeling techniques. To fit the budget, the top 30 percent was selected.

These records were scrubbed to provide a clean address block and salutation for laser personalization. The package contained attention-getting graphics that did not scream "solicitation." Bottom line? The clients met their goals and were extremely satisfied with the turnkey service they received from WordCom.
