WOODS NAMED OHIO BELL PRESIDENT

 CHICAGO, Nov. 19 ~PRNewswire~ -- Ameritech has named Jacqueline F. Woods as president and chief executive officer of Ohio Bell, effective Jan. 1, 1993. She replaces Edward F. Bell, who has announced his retirement.
 "Jackie Woods will bring energetic leadership to Ohio Bell," said William L. Weiss, Ameritech chairman and chief executive officer. "Her extensive sales, marketing and administrative experience has prepared her well for the challenges of her new position. She will be an important part of the new Ameritech team.
 "Ed Bell has guided Ohio Bell through many major changes that have strengthened our business," Weiss said. "His experience and solid perspective have been invaluable. We'll miss his wise counsel and good judgment."
 Woods, vice president and general manager of business markets at Ameritech Services, joined Ohio Bell in 1970. She held several management positions in the public relations and public affairs departments. She also worked at Bell of Pennsylvania and AT&T. In 1986 she was named president of Ohio Bell Communications. In 1989 she became Ameritech Services vice president of finance and administration, and in 1990 moved to her current post.
 Woods is a graduate of Muskingum College and of the Kellogg School of Management Executive Management Development Program.
 She is a director of the United Way of Schaumburg and of the Easter Seals Society of Metropolitan Chicago, and a member of the Executive Club of Chicago and of the Muskingum Alumni Association. Woods also has served on the board of directors of United Way Services of Cleveland and of Leadership Cleveland. In 1987 she received the Pacesetter Award of Greater Cleveland Enterprising Women.
 Bell has been Ohio Bell president since 1983. He began his telecommunications career as a lineman with Illinois Bell in 1953 and held a series of positions at Illinois Bell and AT&T before being named Ohio Bell vice president of engineering and corporate planning. He received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois and a masters in business administration from Northwestern University.
 Bell is a member of the Cleveland Engineering Society, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the Greater Cleveland Growth Association, the Cleveland Athletic Club, Cleveland Tomorrow and the Greater Cleveland Roundtable. He is a director of Society Corporation, the Lubrizol Corporation, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland State University and University Circle, Inc.
 Ameritech is the Chicago-based parent of the Bell companies in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin, and other information companies, both foreign and domestic, providing cellular communications, directory publishing, audiotex services and systems integration. Its 1991 revenues were $10.8 billion.
