Augustus, who also won the Naismith Award, didn't attend Saturday's ceremony because she was on a flight to Australia to try out for Team USA. Her parents, Kim and Seymore, accepted the award on her behalf.

"Seimone will be really honored," said Kim Augustus, who was carrying around her cell phone, waiting for Seimone to call so she could tell her the news. "She was able to sit down with Coach Wooden last year. She had fun with that."

Syracuse's Jim Boeheim won the Legends of Coaching Award. He also presented Redick with his award.

Legendary coach John Wooden, for whom the award is named, didn't attend the ceremony. He was hospitalized last Sunday for diverticulitis diverticulitis /di·ver·tic·u·li·tis/ (-li´tis) inflammation of a diverticulum.

The dispute has been ongoing and the Wooden family informed the Downtown Athletic Club The Downtown Athletic Club was an athletic club in a 35-story building located at 19 West Street in Lower Manhattan, New York City, USA. It was founded in 1926. By 1927, it had purchased this site next to the Hudson River to construct its own building.  last August that Wooden would not attend the ceremony. Wooden has attended either the banquet or ceremony every year but attended neither Saturday.
