Sponsored by the Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club, the 21st annual event outside Channel Islands Harbor drew dozens of classic wooden sailboats from Morro Bay to San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay. . One of them was Walter Russakoff, 70, of Oxnard, who piloted his hand-built 43-foot cutter, Vignette II, in the race. Russakoff said sailing promotes relaxation. ``Sailing is a great escape mechanism that melts away problems while you're on the water,'' he said. From an old wooden sailboat perspective, you couldn't get much better,'' Noeth said. ``It's kind of like Goldilocks gold·i·locks pl.n.
