USC vs. PEPPERDINE

USC (15-10) update: The Trojans, ranked ninth in the Volleyball Magazine and volleyball coaches' polls, are in the postseason for the first time in three years. They are led by three players: 6-foot-5 freshman outside hitter Brook Billings (team leader with 528 kills), 6-7 outside hitter Eli Fairfield (second with 430 kills) and setter Donald Suxho, who leads the MPSF with 6-1/2 aces per match. USC catches a break if Pepperdine's George Roumain doesn't play tonight.

Pepperdine (20-4) update: Roumain, last year's National Player of the Year, sprained his right ankle in practice last week and is doubtful tonight, severely affecting the Waves' chances. Roumain, a 6-6 senior outside hitter, has 624 kills, 183 more than the next hitter, Scott Wong. Wong and the rest of the Waves stepped up to beat Loyola Marymount last week without Roumain, but the match went five games. Pepperdine won at USC in three games back on March 5, and the Waves are 11-1 at home this season.

Middle blockers Andre Breuer and Dejan Miladinovic are a powerful duo, but watch out for outside hitters Chris Kosty, Ole Kaven and Tory Tukuafu. All stand at least 6-3 and have had big games this season, although not against UCLA.
