The Cal State Northridge women's basketball Women's basketball is one of the few games which developed in tandem with men's. It became popular, spreading from the east coast of the United States to the west coast, in large part via women's colleges.  team lost 70-60 to Loyola Marymount on Thursday at Northridge Gym, extending the Matadors' losing streak to 11 games to begin the season.

Teammate Kristin Anderson chipped 13 points and Ofa Tulikihihifo added 11 points, 10 rebounds and two assists.

CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge  had no answer for LMU's Mary Turner, who scored 20 points, highlighted by three consecutive 3-pointers to open the game. The 5-foot-10 sophomore was 9 for 10 from the free-throw line and pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds.

Teammate Adrianne Slaughter was equally impressive on the boards, totaling 11 rebounds to go with six points for the Lions (8-4), who close out nonconference play Tuesday at UNLV UNLV University of Nevada, Las Vegas .

Things figure to get tougher before they get easier for CSUN, which opens Big West Conference play Saturday at Idaho at 7 p.m. and plays Tuesday at UC Santa Barbara Santa Barbara (săn'tə bär`brə, –bərə), city (1990 pop. 85,571), seat of Santa Barbara co., S Calif., on the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1850. .

The Matadors return home for three games beginning Jan. 11 against Pacific at 7 p.m.
