WOMAN HIT, KILLED AFTER RUNNING LIGHT.
A 41-year-old woman died after she passed through a red light and her car was hit broadside by another vehicle, authorities said Friday.
The woman was going east on San Fernando Road at about 10:05 p.m. Thursday when her 1984 Cadillac was hit by a late-model Ford Ranger traveling south on Penrose Street, said Officer Mike Partain, a Los Angeles police spokesman.
The injuries she sustained were fatal, Partain said, adding that the man driving the Ranger was not injured.
The woman's car spun out after it was broadsided, hitting a curb, a light pole and a fence. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Partain said LAPD Valley Traffic detectives are investigating the incident, but authorities said there's no sign that drugs, alcohol or speeding played any part.
Authorities declined to release the woman's name until next of kin are notified.
