 opened Becca's Chic Boutique, a designer resale clothing store that serves as a tribute to her determination to succeed - and her lifelong love of fashion.

The idea for the store - which had its ``soft'' opening April 14 and grand opening May 2 - came after mother and daughter had spent some time about a year ago batting around one business idea after another.

``My mom came up with the idea and I thought it was a good idea, so we did it,'' Becca said. ``I've always been into fashion.''

A-T A-T Ataxia Telangiectasia (form of muscular weakness)  is a genetic disorder characterized by a progressive loss of balance and motor skills. Because it is caused by a cancer gene, one-third of youngsters with A-T get cancer and carriers of the mutated gene run eight times the risk of contracting cancer than the general population.

It afflicts about 500 children and young adults in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. .

Becca's father, George A. Smith, is chairman and director of the nonprofit A-T Medical Research Foundation in Hidden Hills, where the family lives.

All sales proceeds from the store go to the foundation.

Becca's Chic Boutique is at 21048 Ventura Blvd. in Woodland Hills. The phone number is (818) 703-0151. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
