CANYON COUNTRY - With dreams of Caribbean beaches, fast cars and a payoff of that pesky mortgage, locals purchased lottery tickets Saturday for a chance at $99 million.

But some, like Doug Cavanaugh of Canyon Country, said they wouldn't quit their jobs if they woke up today and discovered they held the winning ticket for the seventh-largest jackpot in the history of California's SuperLotto.

``I'd go on a vacation, but I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

where yet,'' said Cavanaugh, a prop builder for the entertainment industry. ``I wouldn't stop working though. I love my job. I guess the first thing I'd do is pay off the house and the cars.''

Cavanaugh purchased 30 tickets at the Rainbow Market in Canyon Country, settling on 20 quick picks and selecting his own numbers for the remaining 10 tickets.

But the man who sold Cavanaugh the tickets has his own way of doing things and stuck to that 10-year method on Saturday.

``I bought only one ticket today, that's enough,'' said Moni Majlish, who buys one ticket every Wednesday and Saturday, the days on which SuperLotto drawings are held. ``I use the same numbers every time on just one ticket.''

Like many who play the lottery, Majlish uses the birthdays of his wife, children and himself. Should those numbers one day hit, the native of Bangladesh said he would give as much as half to benefit orphans in third-world countries.

Steve Moniz, however, plays only quick picks, relying on the computer to select his numbers.

Moniz's colleague, John Morris, bought 10 tickets Saturday - five with personally chosen numbers, five quick picks. Allowing himself to dream for a moment that he held the winners, the paramedic said he would set sail for the Caribbean.

Moniz said he would keep his job and help his family members pay their bills. ``Money doesn't necessarily make you happy,'' he said. ``I'm happy right now, and I'm working.''

He did, however, admit that if he won he would purchase something that has always been a dream: a Porsche GT3.

``Yeah, I'd probably have to go out and get one. We're talking about plenty of money.''
