WISCONSIN PHARMACAL PRESENTS INFORMATION REGARDING REALITY FEMALE CONDOM TO U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE

 JACKSON, Wis., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Dr. Mary Ann Leeper, senior vice president development of Wisconsin Pharmacal, presented information regarding the important role entrepreneurs and small businesses play in the development of innovative health care products. She used the development of the Reality(R) female condom as an example. Dr. Leeper answered questions posed by the House Subcommittee, addressed the various barriers companies face in developing new products, and made recommendations to the House Subcommittee for collaboration between government and the private sector. The Subcommittee met to discuss public sector pricing and the future of contraceptive research.
 In her remarks, Dr. Leeper stressed the importance of research on new methods which are designed to prevent disease, such as the Reality female condom. Reality, which is sold to the public sector at a reduced price, helps prevent AIDS, other sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy. Products which address prevention support the public health and reduce health care costs.
