WISCONSIN PACKAGE PROVIDES ACCESS TO SEQSTORE DATABASES.

Accelrys Inc., Madison, Wisc., a subsidiary of Pharmacopeia, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCOP), has updated SeqStore, its Oracle data management and analysis system used by pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and biotechnology companies to assemble their disparate data types into an integrated data warehouse.

SeqStore supplies the necessary tools to integrate sequence data and annotation from a variety of sources within an institution's Oracle relational database. SeqStore's improved web interface helps IT personnel create relational databases, load sequences into those databases, and set security clearances for querying and adding information to those databases. The web interface also includes data mining and reporting capabilities, allowing researchers to locate sequences of interest.

The relational database version of the Wisconsin Package(tm) provides seamless access to SeqStore databases for comprehensive sequence review and manipulation. As an industry standard for sequence analysis, the Wisconsin Package offers database searching, fragment assembly, multiple sequence comparison and alignment, nucleic acid secondary structure prediction, evolutionary analysis, PCR primer prediction, gene prediction and protein analysis, all powered by robust algorithms. A range of desktop tools running on the researcher or institution's platform of choice-including Accelrys' SeqWeb (web-based) and SeqLab (Windows-based) products-facilitate using the Package with SeqStore databases.

SeqStore's analysis manager allows users to build analysis pipelines using Wisconsin Package or third-party tools that take data through a series of analyses, automatically recording results to the relational database and notifying researchers if certain criteria have been met.

With publicly-available nucleic acid and protein data fed directly into SeqStore databases on a daily basis via FTP from Accelrys, researchers realize immediate benefits from the availability of up-to-date data while IT personnel realize time savings because there is no need to format data.
