 WINN-DIXIE ELECTS NEW BOARD MEMBER, VICE PRESIDENT
 JACKSONVILLE, Fla., April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Directors of


Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WIN) today elected Carleton T. Rider, 46, administrator of Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, to the board. They also named General Counsel and Secretary Wayne E. Ripley Jr., 45, a vice president. The announcement was made by Chairman and Principal Executive Officer A. Dano Davis.
 Rider, a native of Minneapolis, Minn. and a Mayo Clinic Rochester administrator since 1977, was instrumental in the planning and opening of Mayo Clinic Jacksonville in 1986. He chairs the Department of Administration at Jacksonville Mayo Clinic, is secretary of the Board of Governors and serves on the board of the local St. Luke's Hospital.
 Ripley has been a member of Winn-Dixie's legal staff for the past 13 years, and was named General Counsel and Secretary in October 1991. He is a native of Jacksonville and a 1968 graduate of the University of Florida with a B.S. degree in zoology. Ripley taught high school biology for several years before resuming his education at the University of Miami, graduating with honors from the School of Law in 1974. He was affiliated with a Jacksonville law firm for four years before joining the legal staff at Winn-Dixie.
 Winn-Dixie is the Sunbelt's largest food retailer, operating 1,199 stores in 13 states.
