Birdwalk: Tom and Allison Mickel-led outing in the East Coyote Unit of Fern Ridge Wildlife Area; meet at 7 a.m. at Secret House Winery, $10. Registration required.

Bird & Ecology Walk: Dave Bontrager-led outing in the Fisher Butte Butte, city, United States
Butte (byt), city (1990 pop. 33,336), seat of Silver Bow co., SW Mont.; inc. 1879. It is a trade, ranching, and industrial center.
 Unit, 8:30 a.m., Secret House, $10. Registration required.

Country Fair Birdwalk & Tour: Jill Hubbard-led outing on the 380-acre site of the Oregon Country Fair The Oregon Country Fair (OCF) is a three-day fair that takes place yearly beginning on the Friday of the second weekend in July in Veneta, Oregon, approximately 15 miles west of Eugene, with an attendance of approximately 45,000 over the three day period, with attendance peaking ; 8:30 a.m. at the fair's parking area (follow the signs from the entry at 24450 Suttle Road). Free. Registration required.

 will help visitors scope out a variety of bird species from the viewing platform at the west end of Royal Avenue, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free. Bring your binoculars, field guides and spotting scopes (or borrow the ones provided).

Fern Ridge Birdwalk: Dan Farrar-led birdwalk, 10 a.m. at the Royal Avenue gate. Free. Registration required.

Paddle for Predators: Guy Santiago and Wendy McKenzie-led canoe outing to find raptors and other bird species on Fern Ridge Lake and Coyote Creek, 9:45 a.m. at Perkins Peninsula Park; $25 per person or $40 per canoe. Registration required.

Birdwalk: Rick Ahrens-led outing on the grounds of Secret House Winery; meet at the Audubon Society booth at 11 a.m. Free. Registration required.

Turtle Talk: Kat Beal presentation on western pond turtles, 11:30 a.m. at Kirk Pond (north of Fern Ridge Dam). Free. Registration required.

ODFW ODFW Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife  Open House: Learn about the Fern Ridge Wildlife Area and how it is managed, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the wildlife area's headquarters, 26969 Cantrell Road. Also, guided walks will be offered at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m.

Lecture: How future climate change might affect Pacific Northwest birds, by Sarah Shafer, 2 p.m., Veneta Public Library. Free.

Hedgerow hedgerow

Fence or boundary formed by a dense row of shrubs or low trees. Hedgerows enclose or separate fields, protect the soil from wind erosion, and serve to keep cattle and other livestock enclosed.
 Talk: Patti Chappel will discuss hedgerows and other plantings to attract native birds; meet at the wine tasting booth at 3 p.m. Free.

Dinner: Buffet dinner with wine, 7 p.m., Secret House, $50. Registration required. Cascade Raptor Center will give a presentation on owls while hors d'oeuvres are served and Dan Gleason will give a light-hearted after-dinner talk on Willamette Valley The Willamette Valley (pronounced [wɪˈlæ.mɪt], with the accent on the second syllable) is the region in northwest Oregon in the United States that surrounds the Willamette River as it proceeds northward from its  birds.

Owling talk and walk: Led by Dan and Barbara Gleason, 9 p.m. Open to dinner participants only. Registration required.
