WINDS BEAR DESTRUCTION, POWER OUTAGES HIT AREA.

Gale-force winds toppled a tree Tuesday in Valencia that destroyed a new car, knocked down power lines that ignited a brush fire in Castaic and cut electricity to hundreds of Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. The winds began diminishing by late afternoon, but are expected to whip up again today, according to the weather service. Warm temperatures will continue with the high reaching about 69 degrees.
