Award at Sunday's Golden Globe ceremonies on a serious note, dedicating his award to his close friend, Christopher Reeve, who died Oct. 10.

``I feel like he's still here,'' said Williams about his fellow Juilliard classmate. ``I feel like some days the phone will ring, and it'll be, 'Hi, bro,' and that'll be a weird conversation.''

But that was the only somber moment for the actor-comedian who rose to prominence in 1978 for the ABC ABC

comedy series ``Mork & Mindy,'' for which he won a Golden Globe award, and then went on to a film career that included a best supporting actor supporting actor nattore m non protagonista  Oscar for ``Good Will Hunting.''

``I was a little scared (about winning), but the other nominees were dead,'' joked Williams about the lifetime achievement award, which was given to him by Pierce Brosnan and Mike Nichols.

Williams - or, as his assistant sometimes calls him, ``Mork guy'' - accepted the honor improv-style. He thanked the Hollywood Foreign Press saying that ``27 years ago, you gave me (the award) for best newcomer, and two years later, you gave the same award to Pia Zadora Pia Zadora (born May 4, 1954) is an American actress and singer. . That was very humbling.''

Williams also said that he ``always thought that the foreign press was a wrestling move.'' He then asked, ``Who are the people at the buffet?''

But he did praise the group for having a separate category for comedy (film and television), which often is overlooked in other Hollywood honors. ``You allow us to be in the room with the adults,'' he said.

A five-time Golden Globe winner for such films as ``The Fisher King'' and ``Good Morning, Vietnam,'' Williams said watching the clips of his years of work was strange. ``I was going, 'That's enough of ``Popeye.''' 'Popeye' was a wonderful movie if you play it backwards, but they ran out of money at the end.''

And never one to be confined to be in childbed.

Backstage, he weighed in on the Brad Pitt/Jennifer Aniston split: ``I think once you've been Achilles, you're vulnerable.''

Still, Williams, 53, seemed pleased to receive the award. ``It's nice to get it when you can actually remember what you've done.''
