Chicago placed center Bill Wennington William ("Bill") Percey Wennington (born December 26, 1963 in Montreal, Quebec) is a retired Canadian basketball player in the National Basketball Association who won three NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls: the 1996, 1997 and 1998 teams.  on the injured list with a bad foot. Williams has spent the entire season rehabilitating the knee and announced in January he was sitting out the season. The Bulls could use their $1 million salary-cap exemption, but by signing, Williams would give up a chance to sign with the Clippers without cap restrictions. L.A. expressed interest in negotiating with Williams in the offseason.

The Clippers' last offer to Williams was a $16.8 million, four-year package that was rejected by then-agent Fred Slaughter. Williams' new agent is Dwight Manley, the representative for Dennis Rodman.

The addition of Williams could be a boon for the Bulls in the playoffs. The veteran averaged 15.8 points for the Clippers last season. Williams' departure would make Brent Barry and Rodney Rogers the remaining Clippers from the Antonio McDyess trade.
