WILLIAM E. WADE JR. ELECTED TO ARCO'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 LOS ANGELES, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The election of William E. Wade Jr., ARCO executive vice president, to the ARCO board of directors was announced today by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Lodwrick M. Cook.
 Wade, 50, joined ARCO in 1968 and has held a number of senior management positions during his 25-year career with the company. He has served as president of ARCO Oil and Gas Co. and ARCO Alaska Inc., and vice president of Corporate Planning.
 He was appointed executive vice president on June 1, 1993, with responsibility for ARCO's international and Lower 48 oil and gas exploration and production divisions and ARCO Coal Co.
 Born and raised in Memphis, Tenn., Wade attended the University of Tennessee where he received a chemical engineering degree in 1965. He later earned a master of science degree in management from the Sloan School of Management at MIT.
