Case study

For the past year, Willey Brothers has been implementing a unique merchandising/communication program called B.L.I.S.S. in AmSouth's 600-plus branch network.

B.L.I.S.S. is a formula for planning highly effective in-branch messaging. It is an acronym that stands for brand, lifestage, insight, sales and service.

In AmSouth's case, brand messages strive to make the bank's strong brand principles meaningful to customers. Lifestage messages express familiarity with consumer's needs, desires, joys and concerns. Insight materials include interesting nonfinancial information. Sales messages are designed to provoke customer inquiries through sharp headlines and unexpected imagery. Service messages promote AmSouth's electronic delivery channels. Messages are refreshed quarterly.

Since Willey Brothers began implementing B.L.I.S.S. throughout AmSouth's branch network, usage of electronic delivery channels has increased significantly, and cross-sell ratios have improved dramatically.
