WILDLIFE GROUP HELPS BIRD.

Byline: Sylvia L. Oliande Daily News Staff Writer

Workers at an office park rescued a young sparrow Friday after someone painted correction fluid Correction fluid is an opaque, white fluid applied to paper to mask errors in text. Once dried, it can be written over. It is typically packaged in small bottles, and the lid has an attached brush (or a triangular piece of foam) which dips into the bottle.  over its eyes and bound its legs with adhesive tape.

The bird, one of a flock of English sparrows frequently seen hopping and flying around the office park, was lying on a flight of stairs Noun 1. flight of stairs - a stairway (set of steps) between one floor or landing and the next

They contacted the California Wildlife Center, which took the bird to the Conejo Valley The Conejo Valley is a region spanning both Southeastern Ventura County and Northwest Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. It was discovered in 1542 by Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and eventually became part of the Rancho El Conejo land grant by  Veterinary Clinic.

``I hope the bird is OK for the bird's sake,'' Frank said. ``On the bigger picture, I hope that people gain an awareness that this goes on, and it needs to be taken seriously. It's becoming more and more common belief that people who commit vicious acts to animals move on to people as well.''

The clinic planned to keep the bird overnight and release it back into the office park today.

``Keeping a wild animal in captivity is traumatic on it,'' Frank said. ``This guy has already gone through a lot, and we wouldn't want to put him through anything one more minute than we have to to help him.''

But the wildlife center also has asked the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (A.S.P.C.A.), chartered in 1866 in New York by Henry Bergh to shelter homeless animals, to assist farmers in caring for their livestock, and to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the prosecution of  and the Humane Society A humane society is a group that aims to stop animal suffering due to cruelty or other reasons. The employees who found the bird said they were impressed with the way the situation was handled by the wildlife organization.

``Instead of focusing on the evil things people are doing to animals, we should focus on these people who go out of their way to help,'' said one woman, who asked not to be identified. ``It's amazing what they do and what they were willing to do for a little bird.''
