The plan was for Hart to come out strong and not be intimidated in the early going, and that's what happened.

Using its same playoff formula of patient shooting and tight, disciplined defense, Hart jumped to an 18-8 lead - to the surprise of just about everyone in the building.

Hart maintained a strong advantage until early in the second quarter, when Etiwanda caught up. The Eagles executed their transition game more efficiently, scoring on several breakaways, eventually tying the score 23-23 shortly before halftime.

The tie was much more than Hart bargained for, and the team undoubtedly went into halftime more confident than anyone could have imagined.

But Etiwanda went on a 17-2 run to begin the second half, and Hart never recovered.

The season will last at least one more game.

By reaching a section final, Hart has qualified for the State tournament.
