WIFE'S PERSISTENCE HELPS FREE MAN AFTER 13 YEARS IN PRISON.

It wasn't long after Gale Webb met her future husband at a prison three years ago that she began to believe he was innocent of the 1982 rape that put him behind bars. On Friday, a judge agreed.

 III was released after more than 13 years in prison when authorities said at a court hearing that recent DNA tests of the 14-year-old evidence ruled him out as a suspect.

Webb embraced and kissed his wife of almost a year.

``We've gone through some really rough times,'' Gale Webb said. ``We can have some good times now.''

``We're going to go on a honeymoon,'' Thomas Webb said. He said the trip to St. Louis and Chicago would reunite him with family members he has not seen for 17 years.

``This is the woman God gave me. This is the woman who saved me,'' Webb said. Webb and his attorney, Irven Box of Oklahoma City, credited Gale Webb for pushing authorities to use DNA DNA: see nucleic acid.

``There's nothing I can do to correct the 13 years of injustice he has endured in this case,'' District Attorney Tim Kuykendall said at the hearing.

State District Judge Tom Lucas granted a new trial and then a dismissal of first-degree rape and other charges against Webb.
