WID When It's Done
Board of Directors is in the process of formally creating a Chapter Manual that will include the following key topics: administration, activities, formation checklist, by-laws and financial reporting. We will incorporate the lessons learned from our existing WID regional groups and establish guidance that we hope will contribute to addressing the needs of our membership.

To date, we have the following geographical WID groups: Tampa, Fla.; Dayton, Ohio Dayton is a city in southwestern Ohio, United States. It is the county seat and largest city of Montgomery County. As of the 2005 census estimate, the population of Dayton was 158,873. , and New England New England, name applied to the region comprising six states of the NE United States—Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The region is thought to have been so named by Capt. . Other regions that have expressed interest include: Iowa/Illinois; Lexington Park Lexington Park was the name of a former minor league baseball park in St. Paul, Minnesota. It was the home of the St. Paul Saints from 1897 through 1956, when it was replaced by the first version of Midway Stadium. , Md.; San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay. , and Hampton Roads, Va. (and surrounding areas to include Williamsburg, Newport News, Hampton, and Norfolk).

Our goal is to have the Chapter Manual completed and approved by January 15, 2001.

Executive Dinner Highlights

On October 24, 2000, Deidre A. Lee, director of defense procurement, Office of Undersecretary of Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, was our Executive Dinner Program guest speaker.

During her discussion, Lee, who is a member of WID, focused on addressing the Defense Department's mission--"support to the warfighter." She talked about globalization globalization

Process by which the experience of everyday life, marked by the diffusion of commodities and ideas, is becoming standardized around the world. Factors that have contributed to globalization include increasingly sophisticated communications and transportation
of defense industry suppliers, competitive sourcing, making changes to the procurement policies and practices to strengthen the defense industrial base, and civil/military integration.
