WICAT INTEGRATED LEARNING SYSTEM CHOSEN FOR
NATIONAL DEMONSTRATION LABORATORY AT LIBRARY OF CONGRESS
OREM, Utah, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Wicat Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: WCAT) today announced that its integrated learning system (ILS) has been selected for exclusive demonstration at the National Demonstration Laboratory (NDL) for Interactive Educational Technology, located in the James Madison Building of the Library of Congress in Washington. On March 26, 1992, the NDL and the Library of Congress hosted a reception inaugurating the opening of the demonstration laboratory.
Wicat has partnered with IBM's EduQuest division (Atlanta) and Herman Miller Inc. (Zeeland, Mich.) to provide a 21-workstation laboratory demonstrating Wicat's complete educational product line. The laboratory is open to visitors who are interested in learning about interactive educational technologies in an environment that promotes hands-on access and encourages discussions and questions.
In addition, Wicat has included its recently released adult education and GED products, providing an opportunity for the more than 5,000 employees of the Library of Congress to improve their learning skills using the interactive system.
"We are very excited about our new demonstration lab," commented Jackie Hess, executive director of the National Demonstration Laboratory. "With this lab we can demonstrate, hands-on, the latest advances in educational technology. Our goal is to accelerate the understanding of this comprehensive line of powerful educational products," continued Hess.
The NDL was originally housed at the Smithsonian Institute, but was recently relocated in the newer and greatly expanded facilities of the James Madison Building. In addition to IBM and Herman Miller, Wicat also worked closely with Mitsubishi and Novell who provided equipment and networking systems. Ianonne Guest Co. (Salt Lake City) also assisted by designing the laboratory.
Wicat is a world leader in technology-based education and provides products and services to significantly improve learning in schools and industry. Wicat stock is traded in the NASDAQ market under the symbol WCAT.
