WICAT'S NEW ADULT EDUCATION CURRICULUM ADDED TO THE NATIONAL
DEMONSTRATION LABORATORY AT THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS
OREM, Utah, June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Wicat Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: WCAT) announced today that the National Demonstration Laboratory for Interactive Information Technologies (NDL), located in the James Madison Building at the Library of Congress in Washington, will be adding Wicat's new adult education curriculum to their existing Wicat interactive learning system (ILS) currently in the NDL.
This new addition to the existing installation will mark the first complete installation of Wicat's adult education curriculum, which is just completing a successful beta test period. On exhibit will be five new adult courses -- Functional Literacy, Basic Literacy, Functional Numeracy, Basic Numeracy and Life and Work Skills -- as well as a new adult testing product, Assessment of Adult Basic Skills.
On June 30, 1992, Wicat will sponsor a reception at the NDL to celebrate the first installation of this new curriculum. William E. Brock, former U.S. Secretary of Labor, will present a keynote address, "Workforce Readiness Toward the Next Century." The reception will run from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Madison Building.
Brock has recently served as chairman of the Department of Labor's Secretary's Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS), as well as the past chairman of the National Commission on Skills of the American Workforce. Brock is co-author of America's Choice: High Skills or Low Wages, considered by many to be a landmark analysis of adult education in America.
"With the release of our new adult education curriculum, Wicat has made a significant contribution to addressing the major issues of adult education in America," stated H. Richard Byrne, chief operating officer for Wicat. "We anticipate that Wicat's adult education products will continue to grow and to provide the important necessary curriculum to meet these critical needs of our adult population."
The NDL is a nationally recognized center for the demonstration of interactive multimedia technologies. The facility provides a forum for discussion and research of public policy issues associated with this burgeoning field.
Wicat Systems is a world leader in technology-based education and training solutions. Wicat provides products and services which significantly improve learning to schools, industry and the military. Wicat's stock is traded in the NASDAQ market under the symbol WCAT.
