Elementary-age children can send a short essay to the Valley News to share the reasons why a mother is terrific. Essays should be no longer than 100 words and contain the writer's name Noun 1. writer's name - the name that appears on the by-line to identify the author of a work author's name name - a language unit by which a person or thing is known; "his name really is George Washington"; "those are two names for the same thing" , age, city of residence and contact phone number (not for publication). Several essays will be published in the May 10 edition of the Valley News. A reporter might contact some of the young authors to write an article about their moms. The deadline for submissions is April 21.
