WHSmith to open new store at JFK International Airport.

, manager and developer of the new Terminal 4 at JFK International Airport; announced that WHSmith USA Travel Retail will expand its operations in the terminal's retail concourse with the opening of New York Souvenir and Gift store later this year.

"WHSmith has demonstrated the high standards that represent Terminal 4 in terms of presentation, customer service, merchandise selection, and promotion," said Carol Fish, JFK IAT director of retail marketing.

"The addition of their New York Souvenir and-Gift Store re-emphasizes our commitment to providing our passengers and visitors with a unique shopping experience because we have something for everyone in our retail concourse."

WHSmith currently operates five newsstands and a Books.Co store at Terminal 4. The new store will bring WHSmith's flagship store at Terminal 4 to a total of 7,000 SF, its largest in the U.S.

"For WHSmith this venture represents an important extension of our core business and the opportunity for further -expansion," said Shelia Trappier Edwards, vice president of corporate affairs and government relations for WHSmith. "Terminal 4 will house the largest location for WHSmith outside the U.K."

Centrally located in the retail hall, the store will carry a variety of merchandise related to Metropolitan New York and its famous landmarks such as Broadway, the Statue of Liberty Statue of Liberty

The 1.5-million SF Terminal 4 includes a spacious retail concourse the length of four Manhattan city blocks, with a street-pricing policy and assortment of shops, entertainment, and eateries.

The mix of retailers and merchandise includes WHSmith's diverse offerings, DFS (Distributed File System) An enhancement to Windows NT/2000 and 95/98 that allows files scattered across multiple servers to be treated as a single group. With Dfs, a network administrator can build a hierarchical file system that spans the organization's LANs and  Galleria (the Duty Free Shop), H. Stern fine jewelry. I Santi leather goods from Milan, and DKNY DKNY Donna Karan New York  apparel. In addition, recognized New York hotspots such as Sylvia's of Harlem, Zum Zum, and Krispy Kreme Donuts are in the Terminal's food court.
