WHITE WINTER SURPRISE; SNOWFALL CLOSES ROADS, SCHOOL IN HIGH COUNTRY.

Snow blanketed local freeways and canyon roads Monday morning as the first big storm of the year dampened what has been a very dry winter.

No accidents were reported as snow covered the Golden State and Antelope Valley freeways north of Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987.
