WHEN THE WORLD IS YOUR OYSTER, THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME

SAN FRANCISCO, May 7, /PRNewswire/ -- If you could travel anywhere in the world at no cost to you, where would you go? Visa U.S.A. recently gave 70 American cardholders the chance to answer this question as part of the opportunity of a lifetime -- $15,000 and the freedom to choose any dream vacation destination at which to spend it.
What exotic locale did these lucky 70 cardholders, who won the trip prizes in Visa's "Anywhere You Want to Be" sweepstakes, choose to visit?
 The United States!
Of those responding to a survey by Visa U.S.A., one-half (47.9 percent) selected destinations in the United States, ranging from Disneyworld family vacations to tours of potential colleges around the country. Next in order of preference in the survey were: Europe (27.1 percent), Australia/South Pacific (14.6 percent) and Africa/Asia (10.4 percent).
"For years, we have been reminding people that Visa is everywhere you want to be," said Jan Soderstrom, senior vice president for Visa U.S.A. "Now, 70 lucky consumers are showing us exactly where they want to be."
Consumers entered Visa's "Anywhere You Want To Be" sweepstakes automatically every time they used Visa between November 23, 1992, and December 24, 1992. Any purchase made with a Visa card issued by a participating financial institution was eligible. One consumer and one participating Visa merchant were randomly selected each day during the sweepstakes to win a dream vacation for two.
Visa is the largest consumer payment card system in the world with more than 10 million acceptance locations and 304 million cards issued worldwide, including 149 million in the United States. Visa also has the leading global ATM network.
