On Tuesday, the Seattle SuperSonics The Seattle SuperSonics (or simply Sonics) are an American professional basketball team based in Seattle, Washington. They play in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Their mascot's name is Squatch.  came to town and gave the NBA- champion Lakers their first home loss this season.

On Wednesday, the Sonics stayed in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  to face the youthful Clippers.

After the sleepover, the Clippers blasted the Sonics 114-94 in front of 15,840 at Staples Center This articlearticle or section has multiple issues:

The Clippers bombarded the Sonics with 70 first-half points. In the end, they beat the Sonics in about every way possible - physically, emotionally and statistically.

The Clippers shot 54.1 percent to the Sonics' 42.7. They had 42 rebounds to the Sonics' 32.

The Sonics fell to 0-8 in the second games of back-to-back games.

Lamar Odom Lamar Joseph Odom (born November 6 1979, in South Jamaica, Queens, New York) is an American professional basketball player who currently plays power forward (also plays both forward spots and is a "point-forward") for the National Basketball Association's Los Angeles Lakers.  had 15 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, and Quentin Richardson Quentin Richardson (born April 13 1980 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American professional basketball player, currently playing for the National Basketball Association's New York Knicks. Corey Maggette Corey Antoine Maggette (born November 12 1979, in Melrose Park, Illinois) is an American professional basketball player, positioned at small forward for the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers.  added 17 points, and Elton Brand had 18 points and 10 rebounds.

The Clippers' game plan was to prevent Gary Payton from driving and passing. With the blowout, the game plan really didn't become an issue.

Payton shot 6 of 15 for 14 points and had seven assists, and Brent Barry scored 18 points for the Sonics (10-15). Although the Clippers have had difficulties holding fourth-quarter leads, they led 92-65 after three quarters and didn't have much stress in claiming this victory. Seattle never was closer than 17 points in the second half, and that was in garbage time.

the Sonics. It seemed as if everything that could go wrong for the Sonics did.

Even small plays that appeared to be ready to go the Sonics' way, often ended up in favor of the Clippers. There was one play with 2:30 left in the third quarter in which Odom slapped the ball out of bounds. The Sonics would have been given possession, but the ball skimmed off Barry's back.

This was the first game the Clippers had in hand even before the second half started. They led 70-45 at halftime.

There was a barren stretch from 7:29 to 4:30 left in the third quarter in which neither team scored. But ultimately, the Clippers avoided any major scare in the second half.

If the first half wasn't the Clippers' best half of the season, it definitely was their best offensive half as they shot 61.7 percent and 71.4 percent from 3-point range.

They scored 33 points in the first quarter, then 37 points in the second half. Before this game, the most they had scored in any quarter was 33.
