WHAT'S HAPPENING.
In December 1967, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. announced the "Poor People's Campaign" in which 1,500 people would travel to Washington, D.C., to petition the U.S. government for an "economic bill of rights." Now, a photo exhibition at the University of California Berkeley Art Museum (2625 Durant Durant, city (1990 pop. 12,823), seat of Bryan co., S central Okla., in the Red River valley farm area; inc. 1873. It is the commercial and processing center for an agricultural region where peanuts, cotton, wheat, and oil are produced and cattle are raised. There is some light manufacturing. Durant is the seat of Southeastern Oklahoma State Univ. The ruins of Fort Washita, on nearby Lake Texoma, include 48 buildings. Ave.; 510-642-0808; www.bampfa.berkeley.edu) explores this historic event. "The Mule Train: A Journey of Hope Remembered," which opened January 17, remains on view through March 26. Admission is $6 for adults; children are free. * One of the largest exhibitions of the works of living African American photographers, "Committed to the Image: Contemporary Black Photographers," is on view at the Brooklyn Museum of Art (200 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, New York; 718-638-5000) through April 29. * Stay at Aspen's Hotel Jerome (330 E.
