THESE CLOWNS BOTHERING YOU?

If you're brave, sit in the first couple of rows of the Kirk Douglas Theatre The Kirk Douglas Theatre is located in Culver City, California and in 2004, was acquired by the famed Center Theatre Group. The theatre is the most intimate of the groups 3 stages and seats 317 patrons at max occupancy. , where Trey Lyford and Geoff Sobelle, the clowns of ``all wear bowlers,'' can get you in their sights. Their characters - Wyatt R. Levine and Earnest Matters - have emerged from a silent movie, you see, and are trying to find their way out of the theater. And let's just say they're not shy about taking a few steps into - and over - the audience to attain this goal. ``All wear bowlers'' plays through Oct. 28 at the Douglas, 9820 Washington Blvd., Culver City. Photo-montage animation (with an abundance of hilarious sight gags) and utterly drolly random dialogue - the assorted characters discuss films they haven't seen, board games and shoe trees - also makes it one of the most entertaining. Steve Coogan (``I'm Alan Partridge'') lends his voice to the group's leader, an eloquently dim horse. Other characters include a Tim Robbins-obsessed bulldog, a saucy sauc·y

``Calvin and Hobbes,'' Bill Watterson's beloved comic strip about a trickster trickster, a mythic figure common among Native North Americans, South Americans, and Africans. Usually male but occasionally female or disguised in female form, he is notorious for exaggerated biological drives and well-endowed physique; partly divine, partly human,  kid and his feline friend, is back. But you won't find it in the comic pages. You'll find it in ``The Complete Calvin and Hobbes,'' a three-volume slip-cased set out this week from Andrews McMeel Publishing that includes every strip Watterson did from his cartoon's launch on Nov. 18, 1985, to its final run on Dec. 31, 1995. The collection includes new art and an introduction by Watterson. Retail price: $150.
