Ultimate is played by seven-person teams who advance the plastic disc up and down a football-style field, scoring in the end zones. Eugene touts one of the game's early ambassadors, the late Henry Callahan Henry Callahan (1957–1982) was a player and ambassador of Ultimate and helped bring the sport to the University of Oregon, formally establishing a team in 1978. In 1982 he was murdered during a robbery while working in Boulder, Colorado. , and one of the longest-running tournaments in the Northwest, coinciding with the summer solstice. And another Wiggins played a part in the soon-to-be-worldwide Seth Wiggins image. Seth's mother, Scobel Wiggins, shot that picture of Seth, reaching high for the disc over defenders. Scobel has been an official photographer for the Ultimate Players Association, which oversees the game in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. While Seth, Scobel's younger son, is the 21-year-old team captain for the Ducks, his older brother, Ben, once held that post himself. Ben won the college game's highest individual award in 2003, named for Callahan. Like her boys, Scobel said she gets "amped up" for big games, as she tries to capture the subtle nuances that lead to scores - the perfect fake or a player's quick first step that leaves a defender momentarily frozen. Of Seth, she said, "he's a photographer's dream come true. He's just wonderful to watch and he's always going 16 different ways at the same time. It's hard to take a bad picture." Seth Wiggins didn't exactly agree - `point out the inherent family bias in that quote,' he said, laughing - but he's encouraged by the game's growth. Here's the irony: Wiggins probably won't play Ultimate with the Wham-O Frisbee he's indirectly helping to sell.
