WESTWARD EXPLORATIONS LTD. AND WINDARRA MINERALS LTD. - UPDATE

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Westward Explorations Ltd. and Windarra Minerals Ltd. (the "companies") have received the following report from Cyclone Capital Corp., operator of the extensive exploration program conducted on Somerset Island.
Westward (and Windarra through its ownership of 76.86 percent of the issued shares of Westward) holds a 20 percent interest in the Syndicate formed to carry out an extensive aeromagnetic survey on Somerset Island, in addition to their option to earn a 50 percent interest, subject to certain back-in provisions by Cominco, in the Selatiavak, Peuyuk and Skull diamond properties.
A total of six new claim groups were acquired, one of which lies within the option agreement and five of which are covered by the Syndicate agreement. All groups cover "bulls-eye" aeromagnetic anomalies similar in size and intensity to those exhibited over known kimberlite pipes in the area.
Cyclone Capital Corp. has received results from an additional 44 samples taken from the company's Somerset Island properties. These all consist of surface soil samples, taken both from known kimberlite bearing areas and as follow-up testing of several areas based on aeromagnetic results. Together with 11 earlier samples, these represent the first 55 of a total of 291 samples currently submitted for analysis.
Results are based on picking of diamond indicator minerals -- pyrope and eclogitic garnets, picro-ilmenite, chromite and chrome diopside. All 55 samples contain substantial indicator minerals, including significant pyrope garnets in all but 13 of the samples.
Nine new areas indicated by the aeromagnetic survey were tested, all of which returned various indicator minerals. Abundant indicators, including pyrope garnets were identified on the Paco, Oscar and New claims. The latter has been diamond drilled with drill core currently being analyzed.
Westward hold a 20 percent interest in the latter 3 claim groups.
Drill core from 2 holes diamond drilled to test the Selatiavak kimberlite is currently being analyzed with results expected soon. Five microdiamonds were previously recovered from surface sampling of this kimberlite pipe.
