WESTLAKE VILLAGE TO SEEK BIDS TO BUILD FOXFIELD PARK.

WESTLAKE VILLAGE - City officials anticipate seeking construction bids this month on a $564,800 neighborhood park that will feature a picnic shelter and a tot lot.

The City Council last week approved adding $87,700 to the budget for the long-awaited park on 1.34 acres at Foxfield Drive near Lindero Canyon Road.

``The residents are very anxious to have the park developed,'' Assistant City Manager Audrey Brown Audrey Kathleen Brown (later Court) (May 24, 1913 – June, 2005) is a British athlete who competed mainly in the 100 metres.

She competed for Great Britain in the 1936 Summer Olympics held in Berlin, Germany in the 4 x 100 metres where she won the Silver medal with her

Brown said officials hope to begin developing Foxfield Park in January and complete it by March.

The costs include $31,500 for playground Playground - A visual language for children, developed for Apple's Vivarium Project. Funding for the park includes $155,000 from two state park bond propositions, with the rest of the money coming from city coffers.

Brown said the project would have been a lot cheaper if all they did was plant grass and trees.

``But the city worked with the community to come up with (a project) to fit the community's needs,'' she said. ``The design includes a picnic shelter, a tot lot area and other elements. The park also will include a trail, a half court for basketball and some kind of feature at the entrance like a fountain fountain, natural or artificially conveyed flow of water. Once completed, Foxfield Park will be the city's fifth park and is the only park actively being planned at this time.
