Westlake (5-2, 2-1) took a 17-0 lead into the locker room at halftime, but Warriors coach Jim Benkert warned his players the game was far from over and to beware of complacency.

Contos took his words to heart. He received the second-half kickoff at the 9-yard line, sliced up the middle and over to the Westlake sideline, then raced untouched to the end zone for a 24-0 lead.

``It was important we came out and put a nail in the coffin, just like our coach said,'' said Contos, who finished with 59 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.

Kasey O'Brien helped bury the Musketeers with a bruising bruising

``Kasey is one of the best running backs I've ever seen,'' Contos said. ``He trucks over people whenever he wants.''

Moorpark (2-4, 1-2) outgained Westlake 342-282, but most of the damage came after the game was out of reach. Both the Musketeers' scores came in the fourth quarter.

After trading three-and-out possessions, Moorpark put together an impressive drive that chewed up 7:30 in the first quarter. The Musketeers looked strong and determined, going 63 yards in 11 plays to the Westlake 38 but punted on fourth-and-3.

``Hindsight is 20-20,'' said Moorpark Coach Tim Lins, who later wished the Musketeers had tried to convert on fourth down. ``But it was early and we were playing a field-position game.''

That was as good as Moorpark would get in the first half - the Musketeers' final three possessions amounted to 2 yards and a lost fumble.
