WESTERN AND PACIFIC RESOURCES CORP. ANNOUNCES
 RESULTS OF MINERAL EXTRACTION TESTS
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Western and Pacific Resources Corp. (NASDAQ: WNPRF) (the "company") announces the results of its preliminary internal and external tests of the mineral content of the water extracted from its mining properties located in Butte, Mont., on Monday, Oct. 19 by AWD Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dow Chemicals Inc.
These independent laboratory tests confirm 50 to 60 pounds of metal per 1,000 gallons of mine water drawn from 3,300 feet below surface of the Kelly Mine. The principal metals are: aluminum, calcium, magnesium, manganese, iron and zinc. Lesser quantities of at least 30 other metals, including precious metals and rare earths are also present.
AWD Technologies used government approved and industry accepted methods and protocols to collect samples for analysis by an independent laboratory, Data Chem Laboratories of Salt Lake City. Samples were also tested by the Montana Bureau of Mines and by MSE Inc., in Butte. A statistical evaluation by AWD indicates general agreement of the three sets of test data within 95 percent confidence limits.
Bench scale testing of processes to extract metals and metallic compounds and convert them to marketable industrial materials will be conducted during the remainder of the year. These will be followed by the construction of a 300 gpm (gallons per minute) pilot plant to produce commercial quantities of the industrial materials. With prices of the industrial materials between $0.50 to $1.00 per pound, the gross market value of the metals in the Kelley mine water is estimated to be in excess of $30 per 1,000 gallons of water.
After commercial feasibility is demonstrated at the pilot plant phase, a full scale processing plant will be built to process 6,000 gallons per minute. Based upon the tests conducted, the results verified, the mineral content of the water being sustained, the processing plant being fully operational, and the marketing plan being carried out, the company recognizes a feasible annual gross revenue in excess of $75 million.
Company President Allan Ferguson stated that "the company is extremely pleased with test results, since the company's properties presently contain an estimated 3.9 billion gallons of water which makes management very pleased with the properties' value. Furthermore, this reserve is being replenished at approximately 5,000 gallons per minute by the mine's natural water drive."
As previously announced, the company anticipates completing its bond offering by the end of this year. Revenues from this offering will facilitate the purchase of upgraded processing equipment fitting with the company's plans of expansion.
Western and Pacific Resources Corp. is a Vancouver-based company primarily involved in the mining of minerals and metals in Montana.
