On Friday night, the Youth Valley Conference unveiled the first East-West High School All-Star game An all-star game is an exhibition game played by the best players in their sports league. The players are often chosen by a popular vote of fans of the sport and the game often occurs at the halfway point of the regular season, although this is not the case for some all-star games at Birmingham High School Birmingham High School is a public coeducational high school in the neighborhood/district of Lake Balboa in the San Fernando Valley section of the city of Los Angeles, California. The school is a part of District One of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). . It was a chance for players who starred at local high schools to strut their stuff here one last time before joining college teams or hanging up their helmets. Hart quarterback Travis Carroll was the key, first completing a 47-yard pass to Jamaal Washington of Reseda and then hitting Damon Coleman of Taft for 5 yards on a fourth-and-2 at the East 19-yard line. One play later, Holmes scored on a 6-yard run. Holmes made it a 21-8 game for the West on a 10-yard run with just over two minutes left in the first half. Washington put the West ahead 27-8 on a 14-yard TD run with 6:41 left in the third quarter. Washington's score capped an 11-play, 68-yard drive to open the second half. Judging by the response of local fans, this game could become a fixture over the years. The crowd was estimated at 3,000, and was liberally sprinkled with youngsters representing their youth-football leagues.
