WEST AFRICA MINING EXPLORATION CORPORATION INC. - SEMAFO - ANNOUNCES THE RESULTS FROM ITS GOLD PROPERTY JEAN-GOBELE LOCATED IN GUINEA, WEST AFRICA.MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AUGUST 23, 1995--SEMAFO (ME: SMF (1) (Standard Messaging Format) An electronic mail format for Novell's MHS messaging system. It was largely controlled by colonial powers until the 20th century. West African adj. & n. Mining Exploration Corporation Inc. - SEMAFO - is pleased to announce that the preliminary results have been received on its Guinea property. Jean Vein _________ Results from a series of 20 trenches from the Jean Vein which range in width from 4 to 27 meters and tested the vein through a strike length of 500 meters averaged 2.0 grams per ton (0.064 oz/ton) over a width of 12 meters. Gobele Vein ___________ Trenching on the Gobele Vein, consisting of 15 trenches ranging from 4 to 38 meters in width tested the structure through a strike length of 350 meters. The average of these trenches was 4.02 grams per ton (0.13 oz/ton) over a width of 11.6 meters. In addition, geochemical results from an orientation survey carried out over the Gobele structure showed the presence of an anomaly through a 550 meter length, with an average width of 150 meters contained within the 400 ppb ppb abbr. parts per billion (0.4 g/t) boundary contour. Peak values over the disturbed portion evidenced by the trenching activity were 4 grams per ton (0.13 oz/t). The Northern portion of the anomaly overlies undisturbed un·dis·turbed adj. Not disturbed; calm. undisturbed Adjective 1. quiet and peaceful: an undisturbed village 2. ground for a length of 200 meters and contains numerous values in excess of 2.0 grams per ton (0.064 oz/t) with peak values of 4.0 grams per ton (0.13 oz/t). A parallel geochemical anomaly overlies a subsidiary structure situated 50 meters East of the Gobele, which has a length of 250 meters and a width of 75 meters is open to the North and is bounded by the 400 ppb (0.4 g/ton) contour value with numerous peak values of 2 to 4 grams per ton. Both anomalous patterns are open to the North and regional geochemical activity previously carried out by BRGM BRGM Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières (France) showed a continuation through approximately 1 km. Regional interpretation of Landstat imagery carried out by the company has shown a structural trend approximately 3 km wide which continues for approximately 25 km in a northeasterly north·east·er·ly adj. 1. Situated toward the northeast. 2. Coming or being from the northeast. north·east direction. Six other showings are known to overlie o·ver·lie tr.v. o·ver·lay , o·ver·lain , o·ver·ly·ing, o·ver·lies 1. To lie over or on. 2. To suffocate (a baby, for example) by accidentally lying on top of it. this structural trend. Mankan Vein ___________ Elsewhere on the concession, the Mankan geochemical anomaly was precisely identified and positioned. The anomaly covers a surface of 2 500 meters in length by 500 meters in width and has been estimated by the Guinean Mine and Geology Department to contain more than 1 Million ounces of gold. This prospect, plus several other showings overlie a structural zone identified on Landstat imagery, which extends through 25 km. It is approximately 2 km wide and is situated 3 km West of and parallel to the structural trend hosting the Jean, Gobele and other occurrences. Further exploration is planned on the concession which has surface area of 950 km2 and will consist of extensive geochemical sampling, surface trenching, and an orientation drilling program. This work is planned to begin as soon as conditions permit. -0- NO REGULATORY AUTHORITY Noun 1. regulatory authority - a governmental agency that regulates businesses in the public interest regulatory agency administrative body, administrative unit - a unit with administrative responsibilities HAS APPROVED NOR DISAPPROVED THE CONTENT OF THIS RELEASE CONTACT: Mr. Benoit La Salle La Salle, city (1990 pop. 9,717), La Salle co., N Ill., on the Illinois River; settled 1830, inc. 1852.
