WELSH SEX LINK TO CAROLINE SUSPECT.
South Wales Police have contacted Interpol after being struck by the likeness of a photofit of a man they are hunting to Francisco Montez.
They believe Montez could have carried out at least three daylight assaults on schoolgirls at a secluded Gower Peninsula beauty spot, near Swansea.
Det Insp Dale Pontin of Swansea CID said the 51-year-old Spaniard may have sexually assaulted three teenage girls in the late 1980s. Montez is in a US jail awaiting possible extradition to France on suspicion of murdering the 13-year-old Cornish schoolgirl in 1996 during a trip to Brittany.
He was arrested this year after breaking into a Miami hostel and allegedly committing a lewd act.
DNA tests carried out by the French police have since linked him to the murder in Brittany four years before.
Now Swansea police are putting together a case profile for Interpol and have begun inquiries to discover if Montez was in Britain during the period in question.
RAPE PROBE... Francisco Montez
