WELLCRAFT MARINE OUTLINES NEW ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE; NEW DIVISIONAL PRESIDENTS AND 1994 MODELS INTRODUCED AT ANNUAL DEALER CONFERENCE

SARASOTA, Fla., July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Wellcraft Marine, one of the world's leading manufacturers of powerboats, today detailed a new organizational structure that consolidates the company's key product lines under four divisional presidents who have nearly 100 years of combined experience in the marine industry.
The new structure was formally announced by new company President Robert Sutter at Wellcraft's annual dealer conference, which is being attended by some 200 Wellcraft dealers from around the world.
"Certainly, the quality of the individuals leading the respective divisions reflects Wellcraft's commitment to its customers, dealers and employees," Sutter said.
Before taking the assignment at Wellcraft, Sutter served as president of Wellcraft's parent company, Genmar Industries, a Minneapolis-based company which also manufactures boats under such trademark names as Hatteras, Aquasport, Ski Supreme, Larson, Glastron, Lund, Cajun and Crestliner. Although Sutter will still be involved in Genmar operations, his day-to-day activities will be devoted to Wellcraft, said Irwin L. Jacobs, the chairman of Genmar Industries, Inc.
Under the new organizational structure, Wellcraft's products are separated into four broad divisions: fishboats, high-performance craft, sportboats and cruisers, and the Excel line of value-oriented powerboats. Each division is headed by a president who is responsible form managing the line from initial design through development, manufacturing, marketing and customer support, and who is ultimately responsible for the profitability of the division.
"Our new structure reflects the realities of today's recreational boating market and the critical need for customer satisfaction," Sutter said.
Named as divisional presidents were Bruce Donaldson, Gordon Houser, Dave Northrop and George Sullivan.
Donaldson, who will head the Fish Boat division, is a former president of Chris Craft, where he worked for 31 years. For the past four years, Donaldson has been vice president of engineering at Wellcraft.
Houser, who will oversee the High Performance Division, formerly served as president of Donzi, and joined Wellcraft last year as director of marketing.
Northrop, who is president of the Sportboats and Cruisers Division, has been with Wellcraft since 1986, serving as vice president of sales for the past two years.
Sullivan, who will head the Excel Division, spearheaded the development of the Excel line and previously served as vice president of marketing.
In addition to the four product divisions, Wellcraft Marine's new structure includes three divisions for the company's non-product operations.
Mac Spencer, a 14-year veteran of Wellcraft, will serve as senior vice president of administration. Prior to joining Wellcraft, he was with Crestliner for six years. Spencer will also serve as chief financial officer of Wellcraft Marine.
Bill Mudgett, who was named vice president of sales and dealer development, previously served as vice president of sales for Wellcraft, and is the former general manager of a Wellcraft dealership in Pompano Beach.
Sheryl Fawbush is the new director of design and development engineering, and has been with Wellcraft since 1990. Previously, she was the director of design and development with US Marine.
"Ever since its founding in 1955, Wellcraft has been a force in the marine industry," said Sutter, who also introduced the company's 1994 new product line at the Dealer Conference. "With this new team in place and our new models, Wellcraft is well-situated for success in the coming year."
Wellcraft Marine is based in Sarasota, Fla., has a workforce of more than 600 employees, and has more than 1 million square feet of manufacturing facilities in Sarasota, Manatee and Highland counties, Florida. The company is the largest powerboat division of Genmar Industries, Inc.
