Celebrate African American culture African American culture or Black culture, in the United States, includes the various cultural traditions of African American communities. It is both part of, and distinct from American culture. The U.S.  at the Kwanzaa Heritage Festival and Parade. The event will feature African dance The term African dance refers mainly to the dances of subsaharan and West Africa. The music and dances of northern Africa and the Sahara are generally more closely connected to those of the Near East. Also the dances of immigrants of European and Asian descent (e.g. , live music, drumming, a children's village and a variety of ethnic food. The event takes place 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Leimert Park Village, corner of Crenshaw cren·shaw   also cran·shaw

A variety of winter melon (Cucumis melo var. inodorus) having a greenish-yellow rind and sweet, usually salmon-pink flesh.

Tournament of Roses Parade The Tournament of Roses Parade was established, and first held, on January 1,1890, in Pasadena, California, eight miles (13 km) northeast of Downtown Los Angeles.

Rooted in tradition, this parade is broadcast on multiple television networks, watched by upwards of one
: the beloved New Year's Day New Year's Day, among ancient peoples the first day of the year frequently corresponded to the vernal or autumnal equinox, or to the summer or winter solstice. In the Middle Ages it was celebrated among Christians usually on Mar. 25.  tradition featuring majestic floral floats, equestrian units, marching bands and more. 8 a.m. Monday on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena. 12 Days of Kidspace: featuring a variety of daily activities including cooking contests, artist workshops and even a kid-style New Year's countdown. This weekend's events include three cooking contests, four cuddly characters, five magic moments and six artists at work. Takes place daily (except Monday) through Jan. 7. Downtown on Ice: an outdoor skating rink including free holiday concerts, free hockey clinics, glide-in movies, a free winter carnival and other events. 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily through Jan. 7.
