WEEKEND FESTIVALS.Byline: -- Simone Schramm Trimm Continue the Chinese New Year Chinese New Year (Simplified Chinese: ; Traditional Chinese: ; Pinyin: ChūnjiĆ©), or Spring Festival celebration with this year's Golden Dragon Parade and Lunar New Year Lunar New Year may refer to the beginning of the year in several calendars. It is commonly assumed that they are all based on a lunar calendar. However, this is not the case. Festival in Chinatown. Ring in the Year of the Pig with one of the oldest parades in the country. It will include more than 100 floats, bands and other parade participants. The festival will include rides, food and games and even a car show featuring imported super streetcars and accessories. The parade will take place 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday along Broadway and Hill Streets; the festival takes place 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; and the car show takes place 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday in Chinatown.
