Downtown fest looks to be Grand

On Saturday, downtown L.A. showcases its best as the Grand Avenue Festival spotlights the performing arts and the finest in culinary cuisine. Highlights of the festival include the ``Taste of Downtown L.A.,'' featuring delicious food for $5 or less from restaurants such as California Pizza Kitchen California Pizza Kitchen (NASDAQ: CPKI, known within the food industry as CPK) is a casual dining restaurant chain that specializes in California-style pizza. The restaurant was started in 1985 by attorneys Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax in Beverly Hills, California,  and Kendall's Brasserie bras·se·rie

Carnivale Street Fair and Bourbon Street Bourbon Street (French: Rue Bourbon) is a famous and historic street that runs the length of the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana. When the city was founded in 1718, it was originally centered around the French Quarter.  Parade: will benefit Hurricane Katrina victims. Event features a Mardi Gras party, pool tournament at Yankee Doodles and poker tournament at Gotham Hall. Our Lady of Lourdes The apparitions of Our Lady of Lourdes began when Bernadette Soubirous, a 14-year old peasant girl from Lourdes, when questioned by her mother, admitted that she had seen a "lady" in the cave of Massabielle, about a mile from the town, on 11 February, 1858, while she was gathering  21st Annual Festival: features live bands, rides, games, food, silent auction and a $5,000 first-prize raffle. There will also be international food booths with Filipino, Greek, Mexican and German cusine and a car show on Sunday. Open 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. Faulkner Farm Pumpkin Patch & Harvest Festival: features a Children's Costume Parade for ages 12 and under every Saturday and Sunday. Each child will receive a free raffle ticket for a drawing on Oct. 30. Also features a giant sunflower forest for kids, hay rides, farm animals, face painting, food and more. Open 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. The children's costume parade takes place 10:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $1 on weekdays for adults and kids 3 and over and $2 on weekends. 14292 W. Taste of Encino: features arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The term was coined in England in the late 19th cent. as a label for the then-current movement directed toward the revivifying of the decorative arts.  booths, a children's balloon bounce, a home show, Wellness & Business Expo, hot dog eating contest and foods and beverages from local vendors. Palmdale Fall Festival: featuring a health and beauty expo, pizza-eating contest, farmers market, Kids of Rock Theater, Mariachi Divas, food, rides, games and musical entertainment by top artists. Open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $7 for adults, $3 for seniors 62 and over, kids 6-12 and military, free for children 5 and under.
