WEEKEND FESTIVALS JOYFUL ATMOSPHERE.

Budding pilots can take to the virtual skies in a flight simulator flight simulator, device providing a controlled environment in which a flight trainee can experience conditions approximating those of actual flight. A simulator generally consists of an enclosure housing a working replica of the interior of the cockpit of an . Up above, vintage and military aircraft will perform fly-overs. And a newly restored replica of a historic glider displayed this weekend at the California Science Center The California Science Center (sometimes spelled California ScienCenter) is a state agency and museum located in Exposition Park, Los Angeles. Billed as the West Coast's largest hands-on science center, the California ScienCenter is a public-private partnership between the State  will help commemorate the 1903 flight of the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk Kitty Hawk or Kittyhawk, part of an offshore sandbar on Cape Hatteras, NE N.C., E of Albemarle Sound. Nearby is Kill Devil Hill, where the Wright brothers experimented successfully (1900–1903) with gliders and airplanes. , N.C.

The Science Center is inviting everyone to celebrate the first 100 years of powered flight at its Centennial of Flight Festival. Activities will take place in the center's main building, in the Air and Space Gallery and elsewhere.

Attractions include the 1903 Wright flight simulator, which uses mechanisms that allow visitors to control virtual takeoffs and landings in front of a panoramic projection screen. Also, the theme of flight will be interpreted by dance troupes, musicians, actors and storytellers. IMAX IMAX

California State University, Northridge CSUN offers a variety of programs leading to bachelor's degrees in 61 fields and master's degrees in 42 fields. The university has over 150,000 alumni. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an , off-site parking lot, Lassen Street and Lindley Avenue. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
