WEEKEND FESTIVALS GET A JUMP ON HALLOWEEN IN CALABASAS.Byline: Fred Shuster Staff Writer Want to try out your cowboy costume almost a full month before Halloween? The third annual Calabasas Cultural Festival is just the place for a trial run. Saturday's free day of activities takes in music, dance, and arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The term was coined in England in the late 19th cent. as a label for the then-current movement directed toward the revivifying of the decorative arts. at the three-acre site of the historic Leonis Adobe, an authentically preserved ranch built around 1844. Entertainment includes dance, classical guitar, Latin pop, folk and cowboy music. Demonstrations of pottery and art, wildlife and farm animals, as well as Old West skills such as lassoing and livestock feeding will be offered. Also, prizes to be awarded for best Western outfit. So expect to see a cowboy or two on the Old Town Calabasas boardwalk.
