WEBB IMPRESSIVE, COMES UP EMPTY BAKERSFIELD 4, JETHAWKS 3.

Byline: Gideon Rubin Staff Writer

LANCASTER - Brandon Webb knows the routine. He pitched well enough to win again Monday night, but once again the JetHawks' tough-luck loser had nothing to show for it.

The JetHawks were locked in a 3-3 tie with the Bakersfield Blaze entering the 12th inning in front of 2,476 at Lancaster Municipal Stadium.

Webb, who hasn't won a game since May 27, allowed just two runs in seven innings. He hit three batters, raising his California League-leading total to 21, and scattered 12 hits.

Webb is 0-3 with six no decisions in his past nine starts.

--Notes: Outfielder Kevan Burns was placed on the disabled list with a back injury. The JetHawks activated outfielder Cedrick Harris, who had been sidelined with a broken thumb.

--Matchup: Right-hander Duaner Sanchez will make his JetHawks debut tonight when the JetHawks play host to Bakersfield at 7:15.

MINOR-LEAGUE REPORT

Former Hart High of Newhall pitcher Jamie Shields tossed a three-hit shutout with nine strikeouts in his Single-A Charleston (S.C.) RiverDogs debut Monday afternoon in a 9-0 win over the Macon Braves. Shields was promoted from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays' Hudson Valley (N.Y.) Renegades of the New York-Penn League, where he went 2-1 with a 2.30 ERA in five starts.

--Roster moves: Pitcher Bobby Graves (Hart/Cal State Northridge) was promoted by the Detroit Tigers to the Single-A Lakeland Tigers of the Florida State League. Graves, a free-agent signee, went 2-0 with a 0.96 ERA in eight relief appearances with Detroit's Gulf Coast League rookie club.
