The Marlins are a member of the Eastern Division of Major League Baseball's National League. From to the present, the Marlins have played in Dolphin Stadium.  torched him for three home runs in a single inning, the result for Weaver this time was every bit as frustrating.

The Dodgers right-hander never has been the sort to make excuses, and in this case, that's a good thing. Because after his and the Dodgers' latest setback, a 5-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants The San Francisco Giants are a Major League Baseball team based in San Francisco, California that currently play in the National League West Division. The shoulder felt fine. The velocity was right where it should have been. But the performance was an utter disaster.

Weaver left after just four innings, the third time this season he has made such an early exit. He gave up five runs on eight hits, including the fifth home run of Giants starter Jason Schmidt's 11-year career, on an 0-2 pitch leading off the third; a leadoff double on the ninth pitch he threw to Ray Durham Ray Durham (born November 30, 1971, in Charlotte, North Carolina), nicknamed The Sugarman, is a second baseman for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball.  after starting him off 0-2 in the fourth; and, finally, a three-run homer by Mike Matheny

to cap that three-run fourth and put the game on ice for the Giants.

All of that and the usual dearth of offense conspired to do in the Dodgers once more, giving them their 12th defeat in their past 15 games and leaving an exasperated Weaver at a loss to explain his latest failure.

``The arm is definitely rebounding,'' he said. ``I just think sometimes maybe you get your head beat in a couple of times before you turn the corner. I think that's where we're at. ... I didn't feel like I was fatigued. I just missed a couple of spots.''

The good news for the Dodgers is that Weaver (4-4), who is close enough to a staff ace that manager Jim Tracy

juggled the rotation at the beginning of the season so he could start the home opener, appears to have overcome his shoulder problem, however minor it might have been.

``His velocity was up around 88-91 (mph) all night long,'' Tracy said. ``I think it was just a couple of mislocated pitches. He threw some great breaking balls. He tried to go down and away to Jason Schmidt, but the ball came back over the plate. It was the same thing with Mike Matheny.

``But watching his velocity from the time he started, (the shoulder) was a non-issue.''

The third-place Dodgers (23-21) have no shortage of issues, starting with the fact they fell 3 1/2 games behind division-leading San Diego in the National League West and now lead the fourth-place Giants by a single game.

Two days after appearing again to finally wake up offensively in a win over the Angels, the Dodgers again hit the snooze alarm and went back to sleep against Schmidt (3-1), who was making his first start in more than two weeks after a stint on the disabled list with a right shoulder strain. He lasted just five innings.

``I have seen him a (heck) of a lot better, I can tell you that,'' Tracy said. ``We afforded ourselves some opportunities.''
