WEATHER CAUSES MOUNTAIN CRASHES; MORE RAIN COMING.

PALMDALE - National Weather Service forecasters predicted a 40 percent chance of showers tonight as a string of storms rolls through Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, .

The first of the storms gave trouble to motorists traveling Friday morning along icy Angeles Forest Highway The Angeles Forest Highway traverses the Angeles National Forest and connects the Los Angeles basin to the Antelope Valley by going up and over the San Gabriel Mountains. The highway is variously known as County Road N-3 or FH-59 or the Palmdale cutoff. It is about 25 miles long.  and Highway 58 through Tehachapi, causing two pileups and several smaller crashes.

Two cars slid into a school bus about the same time on Highway 58 in Tehachapi. The bus had no passengers and no one was injured because everyone involved was driving about 10 mph, officials said.

Palmdale got about 0.3 inches of rain from the storm Thursday night and Friday, the Palmdale Water District reported. Snow fell along the Antelope Valley Freeway The Antelope Valley Freeway is a freeway in Los Angeles and Kern counties in southern California. It is signed as California State Highway 14 along its length. It connects Greater Los Angeles to the rapidly developing Antelope Valley.  and in Acton, although nothing accumulated on the ground.

The Weather Service predicted that today would be cloudy and windy, with the chance of rain increasing by evening. Sunday was forecast to be mostly cloudy and breezy with the snow level dropping to 3,500 feet by late afternoon. The chance of precipitation was put at 60 percent.
